Dear Residents and Guarantors of Tropicana Residence Halls and Apartments, Since the University’s announcement on Tuesday our staff has been working to put in motion protocol to help keep our communities safe. We would like to share what we are doing to help reduce exposure to COVID-19. Right now we are asking that you please let us serve you in the cafe, which will help reduce the number of times that surfaces are being touched by different people. As you may have already seen we began this protocol today with breakfast meal service. The protocol for our cafe staff has been outlined below. We ask that you be patient with our staff as they serve you, and we apologize for any lines or lack of options. We are working to provide protection for yourself and for others. We have also added a new entry system that uses a QR Code (a unique image that can be scanned) for entry to the cafe. This can be accessed through an email coming from our Director of Technology, Joe Hill (jhill@tropicanastudentliving.com) and students can scan in with the image presented on their phone. The QR Code link will also be available on MyTropAccount. Our housekeeping staff, as well as our cafe staff, have been diligently cleaning common areas and commonly used services throughout the day. We will also be keeping our lobby doors and other commonly used doors open when possible to reduce the number of times door handles are being touched as well. There is also hand sanitizer dispensers available in the lobby and at the entries of both cafes. Dear Residents and Guarantors of Tropicana Residence Halls and Apartments,
This afternoon we received notification from UCSB’s Chancellor Yang that the University will be will be transitioning to remote instruction for the remainder of Winter Quarter and the start of Spring Quarter through at least the end of April due to COVID-19. According to the Chancellor, there are no cases that have been reported on campus or in Santa Barbara County. The campus will remain open and operational, including housing and dining services, for both UCSB and Tropicana residence halls.
We encourage all of our residents to follow the guidelines outlined in Chancellor Yang’s email (below) to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19.
SBCC has not moved to suspend it’s campus operations at this time. SBCC’s administrators are in regular communication about COVID-19 with the County of Santa Barbara, County Department of Public Health, the State Chancellor’s office, and County partners.
