Creating Community Every Day

At Tropicana we work hard to support our residents’ personal quest for independence and academic success. Our Residential Life Program is designed to ensure a successful transition from home to independent living.

It’s easy to meet people, make friends and get involved at Tropicana. We offer a wide range of educational, social, recreational and philanthropic programs. All residents are automatically members of the Tropicana Student Organization, which organizes hundreds of community events each year.

An Academic Focus

To maintain a focus on academics, each of our residence halls provides a 24- hour Study Lounge and daily Quiet Hours. In conjunction with Santa Barbara City College, Tropicana also hosts a weekly tutoring program and we encourage our residents to take advantage of transfer and cross-enrollment opportunities at UCSB.

Our professional staff is in daily contact with UCSB, SBCC and other educational partners to ensure that our student residential life policies are consistent with on-campus philosophies and policies.

Staying Safe

At Tropicana, we are committed to maintaining a high staff to resident ratio. More than 30 staff members live on site including six members of our senior management team who live on site with their families.

We support our local first responders and are dedicated to doing our part to keep the local community safe for our residents and neighbors. We encourage our staff and residents to volunteer and be involved in the local community.
