Make your first year at UCSB your best year. At Trop, it’s easy to make friends in our tight-knit community. Our outstanding Resident Assistants organize dozens of get-togethers every quarter. Our professional staff, who live on site, is here to help, too, whether it’s a question about move-in, directions to your class or a request for your favorite dessert.

You’ll have more personal living space compared to campus dorms. All of our furnished, suite-style rooms have a common living room, and two bathrooms in the suite—guaranteed. No schlepping down the hall for your shower! We offer single, double, triple and quad occupancy bedrooms—and a roommate matching service.

Café Trop is right downstairs. Come in your PJs and enjoy a made to order breakfast. Between classes, breeze in for a hot, satisfying lunch. Meet your friends for dinner before hitting the books. Chose from 10, 14, 17 or unlimited meals per week.

Hit the snooze button on the alarm one more time and still get to class on time. Tropicana Gardens is close to lecture halls, athletic fields and UCSB’s Rec Center. Most residents ride their bike to class, and we have plenty of bike parking.

After class, enjoy a swim in our heated pool or work out in our on-site fitness center, outfitted with cardio equipment and weights. Tropicana Gardens has a study lounge/computer lab, a rec room, bike and vehicle parking, and a convenient laundry room on site. But we’re the only residence hall with a private movie theater.
