Round 2 of the biggest battles of the year! Trop residents from all communities squared off for the second time; some for redemption, some to protect their honor… but all with the same goal: have fun and represent their Quad spirit! |
Onlookers cheered their quad-mates as they battled it out over the pool, each trying to joust the other into swimming pool below! |
The quads were pitted against each other to test their strength and teamwork. It was a charged atmosphere filled with cheers, (some jeers), and a whole lot of quad spirit! |
The players had to dodge, duck, dip, and dive to lead their team to victory! |
And the winner is… Barbados! |
Barbados battled hard to come out victorious in the end! Congratulations! |
After Quad Wars everyone enjoyed Kona Ice that pulled up right outside Tropicana! |
Bumping, rolling, flying, the Barbados quad took the field in some friendly, but oh so competitive games of bubble soccer and Sharks and minnows. Being able to ram into your fellow quad-mates and then enjoy some Woodstocks pizza with them after served as a perfect stress reliever after midterms. |

As you approach the end of the UCSB Winter Quarter or the middle of the SBCC Semester, we hope you take this opportunity to enjoy a relaxing Spring Break. Use this time to recharge so that you can finish strong academically when you return. Also, reflect on how quickly the time has passed since you first started in October!
Tropicana Gardens will be entering Spring Break mode by 5:00 PM on Friday, March 24th. This is in reflection of UCSB and SBCC’s academic schedule and is outlined in your lease agreement. We know that some of our residents are far from home and will not be able to travel home during the break. Some may have academic or work related reasons to stay. If these are reasons you’d like to stay over the break, please come to the desk to fill out an Extended Stay form. This form is also available on our website.
Please submit your extended stay form by March 22nd at 5:00 PM so we are aware that you are staying. We need to know who will be in the building as we will be doing some projects during this period which may affect you. Your key may be inactive during the break. If you ever need assistance during the break there will always be on-staff available to help when you call the Tropicana Gardens Duty Phone number:
(805) 637-5046
We’re looking forward to all our residents having a happy, and well deserved, Spring Break! |

Tips to Keep Trop Healthy |
1. Consider getting your flu shot: these are offered at local pharmacies like CVS and at Student Health on UCSB Campus.
2. Remember singing the ABC song twice while washing your hands in kindergarten? Now is the time to start singing again.
3. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water (especially before you eat). Carry a bottle of hand sanitizer with you.
4. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue if you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue, sneeze into your elbow. Be conscious about not touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Don’t take a sip out of someone’s cup.
5. Keep a household disinfectant like Lysol or Clorox wipes on hand and use them to clean your doorknobs, remote controls, phones, keyboards etc.
6. Don’t cuddle up to your BFF if they are ill! Symptoms of the flu include fever, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, chill and fatigue. Keep your distance and show your love by running errands for them.
